Girl Talk. It's what we do best. The eight of us have grown together because of it and now we are here to share it with you.
As girls, we know about first kisses, cramps, and split ends. We've cried for no good reason at all and bought that 'cute' item we will never wear. We've stabbed our dates with the boutonniere pin, and shamelessly polished off the whole gallon of ice-cream.
As cousins, we know about the importance of family. We've cried about each person's challenges and laughed over their stupid mistakes. We've Facebook stalked our crushes together and planned our weddings together. We've even been known to steal clothing from one another now and again.
As Mormons, we've learned to love the Lord together. We know how to make a testimony meeting end in tears and we can't go to sleep without reading our scriptures. We know the secrets of surviving girls camp and we can explain acronyms like YCL, EFY, and FHE. We sing songs about sailing princesses, cider mishaps that turn into large families, and animals in pairs leaving the 'muddy muddy' for their 'arky arky' shelter. We even have a favorite family jello recipe. If that isn't stereotypical Mormon, I don't know what is.
We hope this blog will communicate some of the joy we feel being mormon girls from every stage of life. We will defend our family, our religion, and our womanhood at all costs and we hope this blog will keep us laughing as we do it. Welcome to Girl Talk.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Way to go MAL!!!
ReplyDeleteDear Sampson Girly Girl Cousins:
ReplyDeleteI loved all of your mamas growing up and have enjoyed getting to know you, their daughters, through going to Cedar City. I simply adore all of you girls and the fine young ladies you have and are becoming!
The Boyfriend Breakfast on Friday after Thanksgiving was soooo fun. A couple of highlights for me were as follows:
1. The breakfast became lunch and we didn't even go out to eat instead opting for leftovers at Grammy's house.
2. All of the Sampson mamas were so lame that they sat in the living room and didn't even join us for the fun chatting about boyfriends and Sami's dating tips (which of course meant that we could talk freely of their college dating lives at BYU).
3. Sami demonstrating the "shoulder touch" which Sami made Kyrstin admit may have been the trick that landed the boyfriend.
4. Sami when questioned by me why she had not shared this important nugget with Mallory said that Mallory had never asked for dating advice. When i questioned her further about Kyrstin asking for dating advice, Sami admitted that Kyrstin had actually only asked Sami to borrow her shirt for a date and Sami assumed that also meant that Kyrstin would like some dating advice from her 15 year-old very experienced cousin. Sami has agreed to come to all future breakfasts with dating advice and demonstrations for all cousins. :)
5. Katie denying that her missionary Sam was ever her boyfriend and so all of us deciding that we now must refer to him as her "fake boyfriend."
6. All of the other fun and silly stories that you cute girls told.
Now remember we can reconvene for these types of meetings whenever needed but the code on Facebook is "A Cedar City mid-year reunion breakfast is needed." We all agreed that mentioning boyfriends and relationships could be detrimental to future relationships.
Have fun in this most wonderful stage of your lives! It is simply delightful to watch and share as you experience it. I am so proud of each of you and your choices to be good and make good choices in life and dating. :)
